A Woman with tears in her eyes,
This is what she said,
“ Thank you, Mr. Garcia, to remind me of my Dad!
His sacrifices, he fought the enemy, the other side,
For he: like you: Left San Francisco in “1942.”
Spent a year or two Island to Island, as marines
Had to do.
Than one day to Okinawa, could not go forward
Any more, as to make this his final home.
Thank you for your memories, Mr. Garcia,
For I shall always be your friend, for you take the
Place of my dear Dad that had no choice as to his
End.
No choice but to make Okinawa, his final home.
For he, like you did not have the opportunity to
Come back home.
