Charles Garcia - USS San Francisco ww11

2014-06-13 9

We met in 1942, going out the gate,
You went your way, we went ours,

I left my heart in San Francisco,
It was so hard to part,

We meet again Espiritu Santo,
At a later date,
We did what we had to do,
destroy the enemy,

We were never far apart,
As we supplied all the arms you got,

The enemy must lose his heart.

As all the ammunition you dispelled,
Came from the magazines the
Ammunition base we held.

You went your way one day,
I stayed at bay, the way was paved,
By your gallantry.

We fought our way into the end,
By” God” years later in China,
We meet again,
The war is over, our job is done,

We leave thousands of our
Men In spirits, pray for them,
For there is now a new beginning,
an ending, never to forget.

Take me home, and you come home.
as this is where we started,
proud of what we had to do
As you retire too! (decommissioned)
The mothball fleet. I am honorable discharged,
The year 1946

I came home a grown man, proud of our victory,
But in consternation as hundreds of thousands
Japanese all gone from Planet earth.
And thousands of our men, spirits lay.

Golden Gate entrance into the bay.
We come home in a different way,
As this time home to stay,
