It's known too well that normal life is slow,
And dull, and that we long for something more,
That with our broken souls we want to glow,
And rediscover that corroded awe.
There are two ways to make the transformation,
Which are siblings in our feeling's mind:
To fall in love without a hesitation,
Or to realise that death is blind.
For death and love both make our lives complete,
Without them life is empty and futile,
In love it's death we oh-so-nearly cheat,
In death it's love that gives us our last smile.
So live to love and cheat the reaper's plan,
Or welcome him a discontented man.
