Sarah Bursich - Charming, Drunken Flattery

2014-06-13 16

Words that compliment these broken attributes
Radiate from the poison on your tongue.
My heart flutters and my precocious mind feels young.

A beautiful, drunken reminder of what it means to be appreciated...
Intoxicated and out of sorts, your words are slurred and rampant.

And though the sincerity might be gone,
I am without stern thought.

Lifting my heart in some peculiar, unexpected way,
You’re still just as charming when inebriated.
You make me forget this sham of a lie I have created
to block out any pain.

And you flood my pain with love and affection.

One simple call from a wasted, wandering friend
Reminded me how to feel again.
