Sara Waalkes - How dare you wink at me

2014-06-13 1

I didn’t sign up for this partial attention-
occasional flirtation
at your whim and chuckle

I am a woman walking places-
free from attachment
and aimed toward a taller city

I don’t have time to hang myself
on your posted charms
made only available when the mood strikes you

So pack that meaning-filled look back into your face

Or use that side-smiling mouth
those big quiet eyes
and your careful artist’s hands

To tell me what you’re really thinking.
