Jeffrey Philip Clegg - Bored Games

2014-06-13 1

Sometimes sidling northward
the knights protect their king

They're off to pick some flowers
for the pleasure of their queen

The bishops preach with caution
from the castles oh so high

They pawn off slanted beliefs
while their crippled king does hide

The warriors corner the enemies' king
for victory's lust to sate

I laugh at my lunchtime opponent and say
'This time you owe the check, mate.'
