Nelly Dean
I look for you in the bottom of
cereal boxes...
...you're not there.
coffee houses, masoleums, postershops
are all notable for your absence.
I scrawled out a line but
it was 'emphatically incorrect'
as the newspaper guy had it.
apparently,
I'm not backwards in coming forwards.
(whatever)
Often,
I call out to you
in traffic queues.
but I receive only indifference... abuse.
My mother used to say I'd be the death of her. but really,
it wasn't planned.
