Uriah Hamilton - How Do I Accept Love?

2014-06-13 3

The stars know you like a summer friend
At a midnight bonfire upon the beach,
Your laughter and songs mesmerize everyone
Who refuses to fall asleep.

I ask myself repeatedly,
How do I accept love when losing love
Has been the only life I’ve known
Throughout the history of my sad existence?

But everyday I’m learning to let go
Of all the pain I’ve caused and known;
I bid farewell to disappointment
And trust you implicitly.

If you give me a chance,
I’ll prove this love is true
And will last on through
To the opening day of eternity.

Please deign to look my way
When the moonlight covers my face with rapture,
You will see the tenderness that infiltrates
Every pore of my being with longing for you,
And then I’ll know you’re mine
Until your final breath departs your body
Baby soft like a child blowing a dandelion.
