Ian Trousdell - Awareness/ From The Start

2014-06-12 1

From the beginning
you have made me
search for you.

Whatever else I do,
anywhere I am,
this is my actual vocation.

From the start
you formed in me
a magnetic longing.

You sent me
what I thought
were my own questions

and you led me
along life's paths
through dry plains
into dark chasms
where you gave me
your endurances.

All the time
from the very start
it has been you
changing me
from your hidden place,
with patience
and perseverance
through the years of my blindness.

And I thought it had been me!

Our picnic baskets have fallen to the ground
and all the pronouns are mixed up!

You are not hidden anymore
by spiritual practices -
for now the sun is rising,
the cage door is open
and the key is thrown away.

The crowds are fleeing!
but all I want
is to hold your hand.
