The mouse made a masquerade
After biting my hand
When I was trying to feed it
Little pellets of D-Con death
and it ran into the potato infested corner
of my pantry
Next to the sticky traps
In between the spoiled tomatoes
and rotten avocadoes
And taunted me with its hubris
I wish I had a cat.
But I can't get one
Because I am allergic
And sometimes the remedy
Is worse than the cure
And in my case
I still have a couple of spoiled tomatoes
and rotten avocadoes.
