Former President George H.W. Bush went to great heights on his 90th birthday.

And then he jumped.

It's not something people his age normally do. But the 41st president of the United States has been celebrating birthdays with skydives, on and off, for years.

He marked his 75th and 80th birthdays with jumps.

And today for his 90th, spectators came out to coastal Maine for support.

"I'm excited for him. He's a true American hero. Shows what he's capable of doing on his 90th birthday. I think it's extraordinary."

In January, H.W. Bush was released from a Houston hospital after more than seven weeks of treatment for bronchitis and related ailments.

But that hasn't stopped him from a successful jump.
