The chubby raindrops
fatly plop
upon the forest’s canopy.
They fall upon each waxy leaf
then earthwards inch
until they dropp
upon the leaf that’s underneath.
Drip, drip, plop, plop,
splish splosh they drop
and make their downward way
but slowly, oh so
slowly do they fall
that you and I
and one and all, we fear
to fall asleep
before they reach
the forest floor below.
