BrokenHeartPheko Motaung - (Remember poems) Remember a girl called Dikeledi

2014-06-12 1

Do you remember a girl called Dikeledi?
Well she was the one who proposed to you
And you couldn't initiate the first move
When she came to you during the school holidays
And it was just the two of you in the house
And instead you'd choose to suddenly go on an
Errand of your mama's and leave her high and dry
And finally(With the assistance of a friend) you
Tried to win her favors back but she sent you
Packing it was the moment of her 'it's pay back time'
Now roll back the clock my remorseful friend because
You're standing here and you're asking me to take you
To your(When were you struck by the lightening bolt
That suddenly jolted you into realizing that you love her)
Beloved Dikeledi and you forget that you were at the
Fore front of those who hated her family and called her
The biggest horse thieve in your little town and you
Realized when it was too late that she and her brothers
Were orphans and in those days of white supremacist rule
The welfare of the African child counted zilch to them
And the brothers my friend died one by one in jail
And you never saw your beloved Dikeledi and I pity you
Because you don't know but Dikeledi is buried there in
The uncarred for grave and that's O.K too because dead
She is free to love her god and the stars and the moon
And no longer shall she be subjected to the boot and the
Belt and the fists of an enraged boyfriend nobody will wake
Her up in the night and tell her to get out of bed and
Cook fish and chips for the pleasure of another woman and
That too is alright son of the soil you're a man don't cry
