Love me tonight,
She said,
Like a flower wavering
In a cool summers breeze.
There must be no commitments here,
He said,
Thus we insure
No rejection, no fear.
Love me tonight,
She said,
Like a plea to belong
To a world that doesn’t exist.
I must always be free,
He said.
You are just
A thing to me.
She smiled,
As her dreams of love
Slipped into the silver black
Ocean of non-reality.
Confidently, he leaned over
And touched her shoulder;
Kiss me girl,
He said.
She just stared at him
From the distance of stars,
And laughed.
