Dr John Celes - Sonnet: A Tribute to a HIV Specialist Doctor

2014-06-12 1

He chose a field that others feared to take
And trod its barren ground, bare-foot, calmly;
He read for days the books for patients’ sake
And used the knowledge accrued, selflessly!

He screened for H.I.V. and diagnosed AIDS
In patients male, female; in young and old,
In truck-drivers, sex-workers, students, maids;
And counseled them in ways anew and bold!

He treated AIDS with anti-viral drugs
And saw the CD4 count turn normal;
He told that AIDS comes not thro’ hand-shakes/ mugs,
But by unsafe sex/blood/sex abnormal!

Kudos to him who treats this malady!
And tells the world that there’s a remedy!
