Lawrence S. Pertillar - The Other Huffing Mufflers

2014-06-12 1

They would drive up and down the streets,
Believing the noise made by revving engines...
Was a greeted sound wished,
For those leaving there!
And they would dare themsleves with speed!

The other huffing mufflers waited.
As if this stretch of road,
Had been paved with gold.
Well it wasn't.
And those who lived there,
Began to lose their patience.
And shot all tires flat!
Just like that...
Shot them flat!

No one returned after that!
Fearing the people were crazed,
And would attack.
And their engines are heard in the distance...
Just above the sounds of laughing children,
Observed by birds chirping from rooftops!
