Alice Vedral Rivera - Sitting on the Beach

2014-06-12 2

Sitting on the beach watching
the waves crest, the realization
of being without him is tearing
her apart inside.

She’s not doing a good
job of coping. She hurts.
She wants to be with him,
just be with him.
That was her wish –
that is her wish.

She looks at what she desires,
what she desperately needs
and she looks at the situation
she’s in and any and all
alternatives open to her
and all she sees is this
great wall of water
ready to crash down on her
no matter what move she makes.

She hides her pain well.
You can’t tell by looking
at her that she is falling
apart inside, that she has
this excruciatingly,
painful void, that she
has an incredible urge
to just walk out into the
ocean and keep walking.

She can’t do that.
She has too many people
dependent on her
emotionally.
She does that and she’d be
taking them with – burden of
responsibility.

Who does she have to depend on?
Herself – not much.
