The blue of your eyes
Faded without the
Contrast of the jet
Black hair you once had
Is still bluer than
Any I’ve seen since
Your gentle caress
As warm and loving
As ever it was
Kisses still honey sweet
Your embrace safe and
Strong as the first night
The scars from the tree
Inconsequential
Where the tumor was
Imperceptible
The recent loss of
Your leg unimportant
Your spirit shines bright
Even more so now
As you tell me you
Play the hand you’re dealt
And we rejoice in
Being and loving
