Gripped by his paper
Stormtrooper shadow outline
An unknown soldier
Trying another drawing
Giving up going too weird
Likeness of a werewolf
Ironman not yet filled in
A suit of armor
Sharpened, ready for battle
Shining it's come get me glare
Prototype study
More of a vague rendering
Portentous being
Poised and ready for springing
Pawn on a wizard-chess set
Leans deftly forward
Waiting atop cathedrals
For the right moment
Ancient Gargoyle Sentry
Accidental moves at bay
Insurgents flood in
No real room left to relax
To spread one's comfort
And set down roots, smile and breathe
Citizens tugging on sleeves
Armies never can
Their lot is to always war
Anything else, no
The kill, once experienced
Taints your demeanor ever
Samurai as well
The grace of all that training
A cocked gun, ready
And all there is left to do
Produce your enemy's death
The shoulder pad spikes
Looming and threatening you
Cut of lead, too close
Oil of life running out fast
Lightheaded, shock and no more
Any of these things
The figure above could be
Artist presumed dead
Will never reveal the truth
What he was thinking and why
