K. Jared Hosein - (Awe) New Year Fireworks

2014-06-12 3

Even though I stand on a balcony of marble
Lofty enough to overlook the lands,
The butterfly explosions in the sky
Still soar above me in Starlight's Hands.

And for some reason,
Whilst these fire-glows slip into my eyes,
I find it difficult to muster up thoughts
Of orchestras that do not rise.

Why is it that I feel like
Because of these bright-winged birds
That an abused child
Is sitting at her private tree
Completely lost for words?

Why is it that I feel like
Because of these squid fire-signs
That a glint lurks now in every eye
Of every marine
Behind enemy lines?

Why is it that I feel like
Because of these lights over Sugar Hill
That a gathering of lonely elderlies
Are standing there
Somehow awake still?

Why is that I feel like
Because of these simple sunsets that beckon
That everything could be okay
Even if just for
A simple star-stolen second?
