Dear children, in all the years gone by
I can not say but this,
That you have been my stay in life
Something akin to bliss.
You've kept my mind from straying
You've held my interest fast,
You've been my constant teacher
In all the things that last.
You've ask sometimes for stories
So in this book you'll find,
Stories of our childhood
That I recall to mind.
To have watched your lives unfolding
Has brought happiness to me,
I'll always love little children
Where ever I may be.
