Aniruddha Pathak - Let flowers be born leafy green

2014-06-12 2

With just two pennies left, world to weather,
If I bought a loaf of bread with my one
Penny, and a lily with the other,
Protested a tender li’le green leaf there
That dared to ask, ‘Pray do a kind thought spare
For poor leaves, left with mere penny and none.

And why not? Save the green painted by them,
Whence would come all flowers, fruits and the bread?
Pray, to where would henceforth the lily head?
What we call tree shall no more be than stem,
And it brought me in touch with sense again,
That gave birth to this thought to me so sane:

What if all flowers were born leafy green,
To blossom to rainbow shades from within!
