Robert Edgar Burns - Being There

2014-06-11 21

If my shoulder isn’t soft enough,
Let’s place a pillow there.
So I can hold you in my arms,
And gently stroke your hair.

When weak, saddened, or feeling spent,
So much so that you have to vent,
Then bounce off me your every care.
For whatever you need, I will be there.

I have a zillion things to say,
But I’ll shut my mouth and listen today.
You have my attention, I swear it’s true!
That’s one way I show my love for you.

Now in this life that I have lived,
My favorite thing to do,
Is holding, loving, and kissing,
While I’m being there for You!
