Alfred Ramos - The Losses Outnumber the Gains

2014-06-11 7

Yesterday, thoughts of you flowed through my veins
I assessed the losses and the gains
Differences we had a few
Because of these differences I knew
I could love you through and through
The day would end with visions of you
Yesterday the sun licked the sky with its yellow tongue
I recalled the hot passion of when we were young
We would sit by a winter fire
And love with an insatiable desire
Every breath was like walking a high wire
It was more than ordinary people require
But yesterday is dead and gone
Lost to the darkness of the midnight sun
Memories put to rest on a lonely bed
Tucked away like nightmares instead
Yesterday we saw things in a different light
We pulled on our heart strings with all our might
Now they’re tangled like puppet strings
Misdirected like angels without wings
So where do we go from here
Stuck in this web of fear
Where there are more losses than gains
And the burdens are held down by chains
It’s a game I’m sure no one will win
When our hearts no are on display outside our skin
So today there will be no winner
No matter who is declared the sinnner
