Weather We’re Having
There’s an earthly low fog today
faded land with ghostly trees
where roads disappear.
The dragging overcast meets
the forecast: “somewhat dreary.”
Everything pales before the eyes,
yet things are felt near all around.
As you merge into the atmosphere
the landscape slowly reappears.
Focus comes then shifts away
behind you into nothingness
as each step drifts into another.
Before long there is a grey screen
behind the hills covered with trees
and a curtain ending on every road.
