Two-time Oscar winning actress Jane Fonda, who starred in such iconic films as "Klute," "On Golden Pond," and "The China Syndrome," received the the 42nd American Film Institute's Life Achievement Award in Los Angeles on Thursday (June 5th).
Several stars hit the red carpet in Hollywood to honor the award-winning actress, activist, and exercise guru. During the gala, Fonda was surprised by many of her fellow A-listers, including "China Syndrome" co-star Michael Douglas and his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, as well as Meryl Streep and Fonda's brother Peter. Fonda herself was overwhelmed by the honor.
"Whoa, I mean it's hard for me to even believe this is happening, I keep wanting to look over my shoulder to see, not me. I gave it to Bette Davis, I gave it to Barbara Stanwyck, my father and I can't believe, I never thought that I would receive this honor one day so I feel like I'm on cloud nine," said Fonda.
