A disturbing armed robbery was recently caught on camera. A mountain biker in a remote area of Somerset West, South Africa was targeted for the crime.
Malcolm Fox had been taking part in a mountain bike ride on Saturday May 31st. As he pedaled through the wilderness, a man, seemingly from out of nowhere, approached him.
Once Fox saw the suspect was carrying a firearm and had it pointed right at him, he got off the bike. Moments later, two other men emerged from nearby and walked towards Fox.
The thieves stole Fox’s cellphone, car keys, Oakley sunglass and even his bike. What the crooks didn’t know was that the entire crime was being recorded thanks to a GoPro mounted to Fox’s helmet.
The gunman got a close-up view of the device. He gave the camera a little examination with a confused look on his face, but he never inquired about it.
The victim later uploaded the footage to YouTube in an effort to get the suspects’ faces out there. He also gave a recording of the robbery to police.
Thanks to the video and a thorough investigation by detectives, all three men have been arrested. Fox’s cell phone and his bike were recovered.
