Defensive duo Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra are set to be rested when Manchester United play Braga in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Sir Alex Ferguson has taken the decision in the light of United's forthcoming Premier League fixture against Chelsea on Sunday.

Alexander Buttner is likely to deputise at left-back, while Scott Wootton could slot into the centre of defence.

Ashley Young is available after recovering from an knee injury.

The forward has not played since United's game at Fulham on 25 August but Ferguson has included him in his squad for the match against the Portuguese side.

Shinji Kagawa, Tom Cleverley and Ryan Giggs all sat out Saturday's 4-2 victory over Stoke and could be brought back into the starting XI.
