Soyuz spacecraft takes off for International Space Station

The Soyuz TMA-13M spacecraft launched early Thursday (May 29) from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

The spacecraft is carrying three new engineers to the International Space Station.

The new Expedition 40 flight engineers are NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman, cosmonaut and Soyuz Commander Max Suraev of Roscosmos, the Russian Federal Space Agency, and European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut Alexander Gerst.
