For the latest advance towards autonomous cars, Google has built its own unique kind of vehicle, one without a steering wheel, or gas and brake pedals.
Researchers at Google have been hard at work developing a system for cars that drive themselves using advanced technology.
Most of the prototype models so far have required a human to operate the controls of the car in case of an emergency situation even though they don’t actually have to steer or use the gas or brake pedal.
For the latest advance towards autonomous cars, Google has built its own unique kind of vehicle, one without a steering wheel, or gas and brake pedals.
Sensors and computer software work together to drive the car to its destination, requiring just the press of a button from one of the passengers.
Co-founder of Google, Sergey Brin is quoted as saying: “Regardless of Google, I think the right model for most of the world will be not through vehicle ownership. These should be provided as services for the most part.”
According to a post on Google’s blog, they are eventually going to build around a hundred prototypes of the vehicle, and they hope to start testing the existing cars on the streets of California this summer.
