50 Cent may have some good rapping skills, but in the world of baseball he’s got plenty of room for improvement.
Recently 50 Cent was chosen to grace the pitcher’s mound at Citi Field right before the Pittsburgh Pirates played the New York Mets. He was standing approximately 60 feet away from home plate when he wound up and tossed the ball towards the Mets catcher.
The problem was that the baseball didn’t go anywhere near Anthony Recker's glove. The ball sailed far left, nearly hitting a cameraman who, under normal circumstances, would have been in a safe zone.
Of course, the aftermath was a little awkward, but 50 Cent took it with a big smile and an ‘oh well’ attitude. In a follow up interview, the rapper blamed the bad throw on his real name, Curtis Jackson.
Despite the embarrassing toss, 50 Cent can take comfort in knowing he’s not the only one with less-than-awesome pitching skills.
In 2007, former Cincinnati mayor Mark Mallory whipped a ball far away from the home plate before a Reds game at Great American Ballpark.
