Zookeepers love their jobs caring for many adorable animals. Now keepers at ZSL London Zoo are enjoying the sights of a brand new baby sloth.

Although the gender won’t be known until vets have the opportunity to examine it, the new arrival is the very first baby sloth to appear at the zoo.

Once the little sloth gains some independence, it will explore more away from its mom. On the ground they drag themselves on their belly, but spend the majority of the day lazing around on a tree branch.

The parents of London Zoo’s new baby are Leander and Marilyn. The birth was a big surprise because at first keepers weren’t sure if the two sloths would hit it off.

Zookeeper Tegan McPhail stated “When Leander arrived at the zoo ..he and Marilyn just didn't appear particularly interested in each other… However, with the arrival of the first sloth to be born at London zoo, it appears that it was all an act on their behalf and our two very sneaky sloths were getting amorous behind our backs.”

The baby is absolutely adorable and spends its days clinging to mom.
