Iraq Prime Minister, Nuri Maliki has released a press release. PM Maliki has ordered the judiciary to stop all deputies and ministers from leaving the country. The reason being, there are deputies and ministers who have come under investigation for corruption and terrorism. No names were released and it is unknown when the Iraqi Judiciary authority and Integrity commission would finalize their investigations. PM Maliki is continuing to form alliances and cooperate with all political groups to form the next Iraqi government.

The former Iraqi Prime Minister, Iyad Allawi, is extremely upset with the outcome of the election results. Seems as if someone is being a sore loser. He is demanding that the country perform another election. Allawi believes that the election on 30 April was dishonest and that fraud was committed.

I’m curious now. I’m wondering how long will it be before the Independent Electoral High Commission (IHEC) certifies the Iraq election results? We are now on day 23 and we yet to see any certification of the votes. The Iraq President is supposed to have the new Iraq Parliament meet within 15 days after the results are ratified. After this is accomplished the Parliament chooses a New President, House Speaker and Prime Minister. Lets hope that they don’t drag this on for nine months like they did in 2010.

A Reuters article has stated that Kurdish officials are willing to accept Maliki for another four years, it buys them time to advance their long-term dream of an independent Kurdistan.
