A family in Louisville, Kentucky is left scratching their heads after their once missing dog returned home with clear evidence on his body indicating he had undergone surgery during his time away.
Lori Dougherty and her family, who are the proud owners of four dogs and Ride on Curlin, who ran in the Kentucky Derby and finished second in the Preakness, returned home to find one of their beloved animals was missing.
13-year-old Roscoe, the golden retriever, was nowhere to be find. The family asked their neighbors to help search.
Nobody had any luck finding him, but about 12 hours after he disappeared security cameras around the Dougherty’s home captured Roscoe slowing walking up his driveway.
Everyone was ecstatic to have him back, but here’s where it gets strange. On his right hip, a portion of his fur had been shaved off meaning someone had prepped him for anesthesia.
10 stitches could be seen on his skin, in the same area where the dog had received treatment for a hot spot over the years. Lori called numerous local vets, but no one had any knowledge of who performed the operation on the dog.
Roscoe has since undergone laser surgery to heal the wound. He is reportedly doing perfectly fine. The Dougherty family is hoping to get answers pertaining to who carried out the surgery and why.
