When Pammi Bai started a drive against vulgarity in Punjabi music a decade and half ago, he was admired and applauded by Punjabis settled all across the globe. With his newly formed Folk Band, he strives to repeat the feat.
About 200 songs to his credit that truly celebrate the spirit of Punjab, pammi has stuct on to his principles for all these years. One of the few singers who has been working on the preserving the rich Punjabi tradition and not falling prey to the westernization of culture, this singer has put in a lot of research and hardwork in upholding the folk tradition of Punjab.
An outstanding singer as well as folk dancer, pammi bai refuses tobe swept by the changing times. And, rather be a cultural icon that people would look up to in the generation to come. Pammi bai had performed along with his troupe more than to 25 countries around the world.
Pammi Bai honured the prestigious Shromani Award in Punjabi Folk Singing -- 2009 by Govt. Punjab and Now the Punjabi university, Patiala gives a great Honors to Pammi Bai with Fellowship in Dept. of Punjabi Development.
Pammi Bai is a singer/bhangra dancer from Village Jakhepal, district Sangrur Punjab, India.[1]
