An elephant calf had a lucky escape while crossing a rain-swollen river at the Ol Pajeta Conservancy in Kenya in late 2013. While attempting to cross the Ewaso Nyiro river with his herd, the six-month-old got into difficulty and was caught in the current, only to be saved by his fleet-footed mother.
Uploader Sandy Gelderman told Storyful: “It had been raining, so the river was flowing fast. Our hearts were in our throats while we watched, since the current was so strong, and we could see there was no other place for the baby to cross. We were relieved when the baby was rescued.” Credit: Sandy Gelderman
