A shooting was reported at Fort Hood military base in Texas on Wednesday, April 2, in the afternoon.

The shooter, a white male, was said to be in Building 33026, the Medical Brigade Building. Reports also said he was driving a gray Toyota.

Fort Hood officials advised all personnel through messages and tweets to close doors, stay away from windows, and shelter in place, ABC News reported.

Fort Hood has been put on lockdown.

Students and personnel at neighboring Central Texas College were ordered to evacuate the central campus, while the college cancelled classes for the rest of the day.

According to local reports, four people were killed and at least eight others were injured but the numbers are expected to grow.

This is the second shooting accident at Fort Hood in the last few years. On Nov. 5, 2009, Army psychiatrist Nidal Malik Hasan opened fire at the military base, killed 12 soldiers and one civilian, and injured 29 others before police managed to stop him by shooting at him.
He is now on the military's death row.
