The Spoon Ring is a tradition dating back to 17th century Britain. The story goes that servants who could not afford to have wedding rings made of precious metals would steal the silverware from the manor houses they worked at and have them turned into wedding rings.
As the idea began to spread, it wasn't difficult to determine who these servants worked for, (and had stolen from) as the spoons would often be engraved with that particular family's crest. Needless to say, there were many arrests conducted from the 17th to the 19th century, with offences ranging from "stealing a silver spoon" to "larceny by a servant".
It's the criminal records that enable us to track just how far back the spoon ring goes, and if we do say so ourselves, what a romantic crime to go down for!

All the jewellery is handcrafted by Anne from vintage or antique hallmarked solid silver spoons with dates ranging from the 1700's through to the 1960's.
