As the search operation for the black boxes of flight MH370 continue after signals were detected in the Indian ocean, a Malaysian senior official has claimed the missing plane may have flown around Indonesian airspace to avoid radar detection, CNN reported.
According to the latest analysis of tracking data, flight MH370 curved north around Indonesia after dropping off Malaysian military radar to then turn towards the southern Indian ocean.
That claim emerged after new satellite calculations put the likely location of MH370 in the same spot where Chinese ship Haixun-01 detected on Sunday two electronic signals coming from about 4,500 metres underwater.
The signals were within just 2 km (1.25 miles) from each other, the Independent reported.
A correspondent aboard the Haixun-01 said that the signal, which was emitted at 37.5 kHz, the same frequency as flight data recorders aboard passenger planes, lasted for 1 minute and a half.
A third signal was detected by an Australian ship in a different part of the search area around 300 nautical miles (555 km) away, CNN reported.
The signals have not been verified as linked to flight MH370 that went missing on March 8 with 239 passengers on board.
