I have a lot of stands, especially for my iPads, but most of them take up a lot of room. Not that I mind, but this small silicone pad is not only portable, but quick and easy to set up. I have things like the Lap Log for holding my Kindle, floor stands for the iPad, and even an under-the-counter one.
This little stand can be stored in a kitchen drawer and whipped out to put an iPad on for when you want to read that favorite recipe from All Recipes or Food Network. I have a pile of cookbooks, but some of the recommended recipes on these sites are awesome (and not in those books!)
The stand is made of a very solid silicone and won't break if it tumbles to the ground. It's wide enough to hold everything from your smartphone to that iPad. The convenience factor is quite nice. There's nothing to secure it to any counter, but silicone has its own gripping properties.

I do like the fact that it's a one-time purchase of a stand that won't have to be made again, unless of course you somehow lose it. If you don't want to tuck it into a drawer, it actually will hold a decorative plate at a nice angle. I tried it and it does work nicely! This is one of those odd, "why didn't I think of that" gizmos that can come in quite handy.
