The Harper Government and Transport Canada are selling out to airline executives.
They're moving to dramatically cut back the minimum number of flight attendants on airplanes, just to increase airline profits. Planes will fly with unmanned emergency exits, and passengers will have fewer first responders on hand to help when there's an emergency (medical emergency, fire, hostile passenger, depressurization, evacuation, etc). All of this despite the fact that their own research, studies and risk assessments have already proven that the status quo is safer than a reduction in crew. What's changed?
Tell Transport Minister Lisa Raitt that this is a violation of Transport Canada's mission statement, which says "Passenger Safety is our Top Priority". A public inquiry must be called. The Tories must be hoping that there isn't another airplane crash in Canada before the 2015 federal elections...
