A massive two-day bus driver's strike in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro has left hundreds of thousands of commuters stranded.
It's the second such strike in recent days and comes just a month before Brazil hosts the soccer World Cup.
The drivers are against an agreement signed by the main bus companies that gives drivers a ten percent raise.
They had been demanding a 40 percent increase and better working conditions.
(SOUNDBITE) (Portuguese) STRIKING BUS DRIVER GERALDO MAREIRA, SAYING:
"Forty-eight hours. We are going to stick to it. Because this is ridiculous. They (bus company owners) make lots and lots of money and we're humiliated at work. We have to go out to work with broken cars with flat tires, broken radios and we can't have the right to a dignified salary?"
The strike left only about 10 percent of the city's buses circulating Tuesday morning.
It paralyzed the streets and made for a miserable commute.
