Russell Cooper isn't your typical retired Floridian. The 77-year-old Boynton Beach geezer held up a PNC Bank with a knife on Friday.
Cooper went to the bank to ask a manager why he couldn't access his account. He became upset when the manager told him it was closed due to "the consistent lack of funds."
Using a walker, Cooper went around to the back side of the manager's desk and pulled out a pocket knife, demanding that the manager escort him to the teller to get the loot.
The manager complied and $130 was handed over. Cooper then told the manager he was taking him hostage and threatened to slit his throat. The manager calmly led Cooper to the front door and opened it for him.
Police waiting outside ordered Cooper to drop the knife, and the manager was able to escape any danger.
"I'm not dropping it," he told police, "I'm going to stick it in your f----ing gut."
An officer used a taser on Cooper and arrested him outside the bank. He is being held at Palm Beach County Jail with bail set at $20,000.
