A 21-year-old Brooklyn man, Andre Robinson, has been arrested and charged with animal cruelty after releasing a video of himself kicking a stray cat last Friday. In the video, Robinson invites the cat closer while his friends film, but when it gets within range, he punts the animal over a hedge. Robinson and his friends laugh hysterically, and the cat hasn't been seen since, according to the New York Daily News.
After the video was uploaded to Facebook, people started sharing it and commenting on Robinson's cruelty. Online cat lovers pooled their energy and tracked down the location where the video was shot. They then alerted the police, who were able to quickly apprehend Robinson on Monday because he was already known to them.
As it turns out, Robinson had been arrested in 2011 for a knifepoint robbery. Now he's been charged with animal cruelty for kicking the cat in the video. His mother expressed disbelief at her son's behavior, theorizing that he must have been high at the time.
