Ukrainian military patrols Slaviansk as separatists prep for more attacks

Ukraine's military patrol the roads around the separatist stronghold of Slaviansk, in the east of the country on Tuesday (May 6) a day after more than 30 pro-Russians were killed in fighting near the city.

There was fierce fighting near Slaviansk on Monday (May 5), the interior minister said, after pro-Russian rebels ambushed Ukrainian forces on Monday. Four Ukrainian servicemen were killed and 20 wounded.

The Donetsk Health Department said eight people had been killed in Slaviansk as a result of the operation on Tuesday and 16 were being treated with gunshot wounds from fighting there.
