GERMANY - Ukraine crisis forces Germany to rethink energy policy

Germany is Europe's largest energy consumer. About a third of its gas comes from Russia, and now with the Ukrainian crisis, the government is under increasing pressure to rethink its energy strategy. Some are recommending that it consider hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, the technique designed to recover gas and oil from shale rock. But it's highly controversial in Germany, as our correspondents found out.
