Annette Hanshaw ~ Speedy Boy ~ 1928/w The Deep River Orchestra

Annette Hanshaw recorded Speedy Boy in March 1928 accompanied by Willard Robison's Deep River Orchestra. Robison did not have a "big band gal singer" in his orchestra which was a must for bands of the late 1920s-throughout the 1930s. Annette acted as the vocalist for such bands that recorded in the Columbia/Pathe (and its' subsidiary label) studios. I have now counted 26 sides she made as a studio big band vocalist. The record was released on the Pathe/Actuelle labels 36785 and X6251. Annette's husband, Wally Rose was an executive with Pathe. Vintage film clips of Speedy Boy Harold Lloyd are from the 1920 movie "Get Out & Get Under". The Lloyd film is under copyright and is exhibited here with the kind permission of the Harold Lloyd Trust. The music was created by Raymond Klages and Jesse Greer. And yes, I know its spelled Robison, not Robinson.
