21-year-old Trent Girone of Arizona walked away from Wheel of Fortune with a nice chunk of cash and the adoration of many, despite his special challenges.
None of that, however, was going to stop him from achieving one of his dreams – being a contestant on Wheel of Fortune.
To make it there he had to audition locally. In March of 2013, he solved the puzzle L’Eggo My Eggo at a tryout held at the University of Phoenix stadium and was later chosen to be on the show.
Once on set with the cameras rolling, Girone clearly wasn’t going to squander his big moment.
He came out of the gate strong, dominating the first round.
His enthusiasm inspired a lot of viewers to start tweeting, and before long hashtag team trent was trending.
The final round eluded Trent, but he did walk away with over 2 thousand dollars and the memory of what he called one of the best days of his life.
