With Toyota's announcement on Monday that it plans to move thousands of employees from California to its new North American headquarters in Texas, Governor Rick Perry, who for years has been portraying Texas as a job mecca, has a lot to be happy about.

He successfully lured the Japanese automaker away from California, much to the annoyance of governor Jerry Brown no doubt , with $40 million in incentives.

Making Toyota among more than 50 companies, by Perry's count, to have ditched the Golden State in favor of the Lone Star state.

Proclaiming the move as proof positive of Texas' superior business climate, Perry has taken a victory lap of sorts going as far, last week, as to issue a challenge to New York governor Andrew Cuomo to publicly debate which state had the better business climate.

Perry may think himself a master debater, but we here at TomoNews feel his recent success might be getting to his head.

To our recollection, he ain't no Abe Lincoln.
