A spike in violence in the Pakistani city of Karachi has seen a surge in demand for armoured vehicles. More than 2,000 people were killed in attacks last year and at least 100 were abducted for ransom. People have been resorting to reinforced cars to counter an ever-increasing number of gun and bomb attacks. Making cars bullet and bomb proof costs at least $30,000, on top of the purchase of the vehicle, making it a solution only for the wealthy in a country where many people live on only a few dollars a day.
